Colossians 3:1-11
Luke 12:13-21

CALL TO WORSHIP
One: O Lord, we come to you as nervous, tired little birds,
All: And you cradle us as your own.
One: We are so sure we have attained everything we need, and with our own hands.
All: Yet you remind us that all is yours with grace unending.
One: Remind us this day of who we are and whose we are.
All: Let us worship God, our parent, protector and home.

OPENING PRAYER
Loving God, you gather us up as your adored children. You have compassion with our fits, treat our wounds, and let us play pretend sometimes. May we pay closer attention today. May we strip away our self-indulgences and see Christ in all. May we be your faithful students today, O Teacher Divine. Amen.

CALL TO CONFESSION
Our sins are not new, but it is time to confess them again. Let us come before the Lord honestly and openly.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O Holy God, we have been impatient children – wanting what we don’t need and ignoring your loving priorities. We only come to you in want, and are not kind to each other in the meantime. Forgive us our faults we have refused to correct. Help us live into your loving will for each of us, and in community with each other. Forgive us, we pray. Please. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Dear ones, in Christ we are renewed. We are ones redeemed and revived. In the name of Jesus Christ know that your sins are forgiven. Now go and sin no more. Amen.

CALL FOR THE OFFERING
Scripture calls upon us to give up our idolatrous greed. In this time let us bring forth of our pockets and ourselves what was never ours to begin with.

PRAYER OF DEDICATION
Gracious God, turn what we bring forth today of our hands and ourselves into something more holy. May your will be furthered and your work done. Amen.
