Seventh Sunday of Ordinary Time A, February 19, 2017

I apologize for the lateness of this week’s post. Homework has been brutal, and clearly I have not figured out a weekly schedule that works. But I have to preach this Sunday as well. It’s just that I am my own secretary and you may not be. Again, I am sorry for the delay.

Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time A, February 5, 2017

A brief, political note: while I happen to be a very politically aware and opinionated citizen of the United States of America, I am trying to keep my liturgies rather neutral.  That being said, have you read the lectionary recently?  I have always had a hard time coming up with modern examples in sermons, for I find that scripture often speaks through the ages to today directly.  Right now it’s screaming.  So here we go, lectionary heavy on direct references.

Isaiah 58:1-9a (9b-12)
Psalm 112:1-9 (10)
1 Corinthians 2:1-12 (13-16)
Matthew 5:13-20

One: We gather to listen again to the prophetic words.
