Deuteronomy 30:15-20
Psalm 119:1-8
1 Corinthians 3:1-9
Matthew 5:21-37

One: God speaks to us here again today.
All: We gather bringing with us our messy lives and unclear futures.
One: The Lord puts before us the way to a full life.
All: Following our Savior often seems too hard – too much.
One: Yet it is the way of living water and never-ending life.
All: Let us choose and follow the Lord today and always.

Lord God, you do not make things easy, but you do make life full. You gave us the freedom to choose life with you or without. The magnitude of making that choice again every day is overwhelming. Thank you for continuously teaching us what it means to choose life in you. Let us keep choosing you every time we wake up and have to decide.

God knows you aren’t perfect. Come confessing your sins being honest with yourself as well as God. Let us pray.

Holy God, we come to you knowing that we are not right with our brothers and sisters. We come not even having followed the laws much less your heightened expectations. We are not spiritual people, but still of the flesh, and caught in so many sins – intentional or not. O that our ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! But we fall down, turn away, and do not follow your will. Forgive us, please. Help us be your people living lives that are blessings to you and all around us. Amen.

Beloved, God never gives up on you. The Holy Spirit is always nudging you. And the Son still is calling for you to come back into the fold again. Because of their confidence in you I can declare to you that, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, your sins are forgiven. Now go and live as they are teaching  you to.

We are here bringing our offering to the Lord. Right now we will not pause and send you to seek reconciliation from those you have wronged as Jesus called for, but please think about what you would need to do. Please use this time to consider those with whom you need to reconcile. Let us now collect our tithes and offerings.

Gracious God, you are always hopeful that  We will keep working to make life better in your creation. May these gifts from our pockets further your will. May we have the strength and courage to go out and do your reconciling work. Amen.
